How would the change the ending to the book The Giver by Lois Lowry?

We read the book in school and we had to make up a new ending. Mine was that Jonas gets to the bottom of the hill and there's like a village of other people their who escaped from their community and sameness, then Jonas promises to help them remember the past and save the other people from sameness.
