Why do religions that form in modern times, differ from religions that formed in ancient times?

new age religions usually don't have sacred texts, ethics or morals, rituals and practices. What they usually have is one central idea that binds them together. New denominations of a religion come about when the people don't like the way things are done so they make their own denomination and practice accordingly.
