My B.C. package does not say to wait 1month before having . What should I believe?

I first started on Yaz - I read every letter in that package as I was nervous to begin birth control. It told me that if I start the pill on the first day of my period, I can have because I started the pill on my period (?? yes i know, confusing). Yaz didn't work out, I stopped after 2 weeks, and got new b.c. This package also told me if I start on the first day of my period, I can have unprotected when my period's done. Conversely, if I don't start on my period, I'd have to wait ONE WEEK before I could have protection against pregnancy. I started the pill on my period, and once my period was done, I had unprotected . All of the things I've read on this q&a forum are saying you must wait one month before the pill is fully effective. Is this special to some birth control brands? Neither of mine said that, and now I am wondering if I'm pregnant already....because I sure did not wait a month after I started the second B.C. brand!
