Eye color dominance question?

I'm doing a project concerning heredity and dominant traits for my biology cl. I read that the brown eye color is dominant over any other eye color. But when writing down the eye colors of my parents, I realized that though my mom has brown eyes and my dad has green eyes, I have green eyes. Also, none of my grandparents have green eyes. How could this happen?
