What is wrong for unemployed to take menial jobs like fast food or scrubbing toilets?

Thorhalla is correct. While there are menial jobs to be had, employers are still looking for people who won't leave the minute something better comes along. I've been turned down repeatedly for basic jobs as machine operator and warehouse pickers (these jobs totally suck and I am way over-qualified, but I hate unemployment).
