Will God save the earth from Destruction by Humans?

I wondered recently: If God created the Earth and all that inhabits it, then why do millions of God's devotees do SO MUCH to pollute it? For example, flushing effluent out to sea, using billions of plastic bags, using non renewable energy sources (oil, coal, etc.), profiting unsustainably from the environment which is unable to defend itself . Just wondering why would they deliberately damage God's most beautiful creation? And when will God fight back to save us from ourselves?
