Why are the older disney films so violent and scary?

Actually they were *MORE* so before Disney and the censorship companies saw them. The films were cut down in length. In "The Lion King" there was a scene where Mufasa dies after he falls off a ledge, but in the original Scar kills Mufasa after he falls off the cliff. The censorship companies made them take parts out from some them to actually make the G-rating. To answer your question, I don't know why films were violent back then, but are the Disney movies of today all that different from back then? "Finding Nemo" was scary for the sharks and that one fish in the deep sea, so let your kids watch them, They're Disney movies for Christ's sake...
